Greetings and Salutation, I am Olu and I thank you in advance for coming to my page now and hopefully again.

I am a student at Georgia State University and my major is biology. Yes, I do know that my page is all about fashion and I also know that those are things that are definitely on opposite spectrums but I would like to think that it makes me a harder worker than most.

Although I’ve loved my time as a Spartan, I’m ready for the real world. And to be honest, even if I wasn’t ready, my parents are done paying tuition so ready or not world here I come.

I’m a born and bred Michigan girl, make fun of my a-a-a-accent all you’d like but I’m proud to call The Mitten my home. That being said, at this point in my life I belong in a big city.

I don’t aspire to be Carrie Bradshaw. I’m sure I’ll be able to afford nothing more than a cardboard box with a space heater for the first few years and astonishingly, that sounds like heaven.

The energy when I’m in any big City is invigorating, contagious, perfect. I just feel good when I’m there.

I still prove to be a kid over and over. I eat chocolate and candy until I’m curled up on my living room floor in the fetal position because of high sugar intake. I still sleep with a stuffed animal—at this point many would argue that “stuffed” should be replaced with deflated.

But I’ve also grown up so much over the past few years and I am confident of the direction I want my life to go in.

So this is where this whole blog comes into play.

I work my buns off, constantly trying to learn more about my field and all the fields that intervene with public relations. I want to learn more, whether it be how the industry is evolving, new social media tactics or how to more effectively tell someone’s story to the world.

I titled my blog I Want to Work for Vogue not because Vogue is the only job for me but because the magazine symbolizes what I want my career to be characterized by: strength, elegance and transcendent through time.

So I’m driven in life, in public relations and in a hunt for that perfect job. And I’m hoping that while bored at lunch one day someone notices this Midwest girl asking—scratch that—begging, for an opportunity.

Stay tuned, I’ll be telling stories about my life, my desperation to live/work in a big city and my passion for public relations.

Where am I working now? Unlike other portfolio pages, here you can find my business works. I’m currently an employee of a consultancy company that mostly implements European Union projects in Turkey. I have 2 main responsibilities in my current: (1) Assist current projects (2) Help to win new projects.

(1) I provide assistance in graphic design to current projects in creating brochures, billboards, newsletters, business cards etc. Working with the European Union and other government type institutions bring some rules and restrictions in to the graphic design. At this point creativity is lost which means formality begins. Below you can find some samples of my work from different projects.

(2) Europen Union, World Bank, UNICEF and other governmental, non-governmental institutions are opening hundreds of new tender opportunities. A complete Technical Proposal is composed of hundreds of pages with different sections. Most companies are turning in their Technical Proposal in basic text format such as Microsoft Office Word’s format. At this point I take the Word version of the Technical Proposal and transform it into a book or magazine style publication with using Adobe InDesign software which allows for creation of a document which looks visually good and rich. Below you can find a sample page and front cover from a Technical Proposal. It’s a confidential document so text at the sample doesn’t reflect original document.

What am I good at specifically? Adobe InDesign: There is nothing wrong to say I’m fully capable of handling InDesign program. I’m usually busy creating hundreds of pages using InDesign.

Adobe Photoshop: Hard to say I’m good at drawing but I’m good at editing and manipulating photos, making collages and posters or any kind of pixel based graphics. (Please see my other portfolio)

Photography: I believe that taking great pictures is not solely due to the photographer’s talent or expensive equipments. I believethat a good photographer knows how and where to look at along with where to stand. I call it “the photographer’s eye”. The main requirements to take a great picture is finding a good moment and right timing. It depends on how you can be more patient for the right timing and how further you can search for your good opportunity/moment. I always pay attention to these matters.

I’m interested in nature, landscape, street, stock, macro, night, photojournalism and still life photography. (Please see my photography portfolio)

Content Management: I’m an editor and moderator in various websites since 2001. I was the editor and administrator of www.turkiyef1.com between the years of 2001-2004. We also published a weekly newspaper about Motorsports for the first time in Turkey (see example). After that in 2007 I began my moderation career at the biggest Turkish Trance Music Community, TR-ance.com.

I like to collect and share interesting news around the world. I can analyse people’s common interests and show them what they want to see in a website or in a publication. I’m interested in gaming, music, photography, graphics and motorsports sectors.

Some other areas that I’m good at are: WordPress, Gaming, Blog, Organisation, DJing (Former DJ of a Local Club), Adobe Illustrator, Freehand MX, Video & Audio Editing (Basic), Hardwares & Softwares of MAC / Windows, Tech Gadgets, Printers…

What’s my dream job? I would love to work for a company that will allow me to mix all my skills that I stated above. Where I can do more for the company I work for I will than be much happier for myself.

My dream job will be in a creative advertisement agency, photography agency, a website / publication (magazine, newspaper etc.) that requires content management, photography and graphic design or any kind of freelance job that will allow me to work with a free mind based on my skills.

However I know these types of opportunities are very few in the world. Otherwise I wouldn’t call it a dream job. If you have any interest in me and my work please feel free to contact me.

If you have an exciting and creative projects for a charity, contest or something else that I can put my talent to work then again feel free to contact me.

I can’t provide some of my work samples here due to corporate privacy. For any kind of work samples please contact me.
